Miracles are everywhere, and often, if I just notice and believe. Zechariah’s day at and in the Temple was filled with miracles. 1) He was selected out of over a thousand priests to burn incense in the Temple. 2) An angel appeared next to the altar of incense. 3) The angel told him his prayer was answered; he would have a son. 4) His son would be great in the sight of the Lord. 5) His son would be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth, perhaps the first to have this happen. 6) His son would go on before the Lord to prepare for the Lord’s coming. So many miracles.
However, Zechariah recognized them, but did not believe what he was experiencing (20). His hidden request for a sign was rebuked (19). He would be disciplined through a temporary muting (19). During the discipline, he would learn to think and believe before speaking.
I am sad because I am just like Zechariah. I know that God is always working around me. However, I seldom take the time to see at that time or at any other time the miracles transpiring around me. And when I do consider, I do not understand. Time to control my thoughts. Time to meditate on the last 24 hours and see what God has done, believe, and speak well of it. Time to believe the unexpected.
